PLEASE HELP ME,,RECTO VAGINA FISTULA

hi, my name is michelle, im 41 years old and have 2 kids. i have a problem that i just cant live with anymore. its kind of gross so i hope no one is offended by this. its also hard to write about and embarrasing. when i had my son 13 years ago,i developed a tear between the rectum and vagina,,i found this out one night while i was watching tv and felt something coming out of my vagina. i went to bathroom,,and discovered it was feces. i of course called the emergency room. i talked to a doctor who later explained to me that i had a recto vagina fistula. i had no insurance so i just learned to live with the problem, which was occasional leaking of feces into vagina and coming out. but i learned to live with it. that was 13 years ago. well 4 years ago i got a good job with insurance etc...finally just a year ago i decided to try and fix this problem. i went to a doctor here in town and he said yes he could fix it. the surgery was that following monday..i went in,,excited that i could be normal again. after the surgery i was off work of course,,and 3 days later i was going to bathroom and knew the surgery didnt work..only now the full feces was coming out the vagina,,not just leaking,,i went in to doctor. he checked me and said everything had ripped out. he had cut the tear bigger to sew it up..so i was left with a big gaping hole. and then said i need to see a specialist,,,well i couldnt go back to work ,,the smell,,the bowell movements from vagina etc...so of course,,,no more insurance,,,i now live constantly cleaning myself,,bathing,,sometimes ill go to store or somewhere and have accidents. i cant have sex with my husband,,cant go camping,,,go to pool,,,nothing anymore. ive applied for medicaid through the state,,,and denied...i need help to get this fixed,,i cant live this way anymore. ive contacted lawyers to see if the doctor di malpractice,,but they say its been to long,,,that the doctor 13 years ago was the one who started the problem. i would appreciate any help available,,,thankyou for listening,,and i hope no one got sick from hearing this,,

There is a a place who may help if your willing to help others who need help. not for sure but it's worth a try... I'm posting a link below but I didn't say it would be easy !!! I'm currently continuing my education to contribute as much time as they will allow me to...

write a letter to your congress person or senator or mayor. Also I would call the local news. Nobody should suffer like this, this is beyond merely being saddled with a bunion or a stye this can destroy a marriage, your emotional well being and expose you to continued infections in the vagina. I would go to the local county hospital and get a lawyer to sue the hack that did the first surgery this is not a difficult thing to repair and you should not have had to have a second one. If you must go to the largest city with a medical school near your home. Good luck.

I feel badly for you and don't be embarrassed at all like the others who responded said. I also have just started having this problem and went to the drs. the other day and have to go to see a specialist this coming week. It has happened just twice in a month but it is the start of this and i was soooooo scared when it happened. Hope i can be of some help but not sure. But one thing that i know is that your local hospital always has free care for persons that cannot afford such large bills or have no insurance. Please go as soon as you can and talk to them about this matter and again, please go soon. This could wind up being a very serious matter. I wish you good luck and will say "Prayers" for you. An other alternative is look on your computer for Free Medical Care in Hospitals.
Again i wish you the best and please write me and let me know how all is going. Until then please take care of yourself. You're worth it!

Medical schools often allow people to volunteer for free medical care by their students, although with no help for any transportation expenses.  I'd suggest checking if there's one close enough that you're interested, if you still need such help.  You can then ask if they're training any of the right type of specialists.

I cant help you in any way except one , YOU ARE NOT ALONE  I have the same kind of problem not as severe as you but it could turn that way at any time I will keep you in my prayers .

I am glad WHOKNEW gave you great advice and hope all goes well.

I know someone who has had other issues with her bowels since birth. I figure that people don't like to hear about what comes out but sure don't mind hearing what goes into ones body which makes no sense to me.

Anyone who is offended needs to grow up. You have a health problem that needs to be corrected.

I did some research and found an interesting site... they suggested a colorectal surgeon to surgically correct the fistula... the closest one I found to you is 4 hours away. Dr James Kantarian in Boise, ID 

I would contact your state department of insurance to see if they can recommend some type of assistance or program for you
